Spiders: Biology and Control
The author is stating that he usually is referring to spiders the same way as with the movie of the same name. He really hate spiders and is scared of them. Doctors usually call it as arachnophobia. It has always been a fact that spiders can be anywhere and this is quite bad news for a nature lover like him as he said because spiders are usually found in the mountaintops, forest and in most trees.
When the author was back in grade school, they were given by their teacher homework about spiders by using binocular stereo microscope or a field-microscope for the legs of the spiders to be seen and if how many eyes has it got. He was told by his teacher that spiders have segmented bodies, eight legs and a lot of eyes, approximately 4-8 of them. One can just imagine how creepy would that be especially if one views it under a binocular stereo microscope or a field-microscope and it’s magnified. Ticks, mites, daddy long legs and scorpions are also associated with spiders.
Spiders are very hairy creature when viewed under a binocular stereo microscope. And also, according to this article, one of the benefits of spider is that is produces silk that later transforms into webs. Its function is for shelter and sometimes for preys and food to be trapped. The spiders hatch their eggs in a secluded spot sticking in their webs. Spiders they say are useful for human beings for the reason that is that they feed on insects like mosquitoes, tiny bugs and other irritating insects which we do not want in our household.
Spiders when they feed on preys use their fangs because they don’t have jaw to chew what they have captured. The author here doesn’t believe that spiders are not dangerous to humans unless provoked even when this information already came from experts. But then he is giving us warning that we should put in mind, that spiders can still harm us. He might be biased on his opinion with spiders but the author really doesn’t like them.
